The 35-year-old male Trooper was in the breakdown lane of I-93 north in Randolph when a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee rammed into the back of his cruiser around 7:18 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, Massachusetts State Police report.
This happened while the Trooper was conducting a traffic stop and waiting for an unregistered BMW to get towed. The force from the crash caused the cruiser to slam into the back of the BMW.
The Trooper then got out of his car to help the woman inside the BMW, but fell on the ground due to his injuries. He was eventually taken to Boston Medical Center where he was later released and is said to be recovering at home. The driver of the BMW was uninjured, police said.
After the crash the Jeep, driven by Thomas Feloney, of Milton, kept driving in the left lane. Police later located Felony outside his Jeep with minor injuries. He refused medical treatment.
Several witnesses then told police they saw the Jeep being driven erratically before the crash occurred. Troopers administered a sobriety test to Feloney that determined he was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
He was arrested and charged with OUI-Liquor among other charges. Feloney was later held on a $5,000 cash bail and is expected to be arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court, according to police.
